The AIP Foundation offers teacher training programmes in partnership with University of Sunderland, a pioneer in international initial teacher training. Having developed the content for the PGCE Education qualification over 20 years ago, University of Sunderland now operates in more than 60 countries worldwide, notably through its online distance learning programmes.

The certifications and qualifications offered – the PGCE with iQTS or the PGCE from University of Sunderland – are internationally recognised, including for teaching in Switzerland. These postgraduate certificates in education provide international trainees with the opportunity to participate in a structured professional development programme.

The PGCE Education (DL) degree is split into two semesters and has four core modules. There is one taught module, one research module, and two teaching practices. The first block requires trainees to teach 11 hours per week for six weeks (66 hours in total) with the second block requiring trainees to teach 14 hours per week for six weeks (84 hours in total). Trainees will have 150 hours of teaching practices in total. The teaching practices can take place at Institut International de Lancy or another international school in Switzerland.

The PGCE iQTS degree is split into two semesters and has four core modules. There are two practice teaching modules of 120 days in international schools in Switzerland and two Masters Degree modules, which include research methods.
